Jennie is a writer, composer, music and choir director, educator and activist with heart and humour. She has great enthusiasm for the transformative and healing power of music and storytelling. Many of her works have been commissioned by and written for diverse communities; from nurses to asylum seekers, adults and kids in big cities and small towns. She has won national and international awards working in radio, theatre, screen, schools, universities and other training organisations, fancy festivals and footpaths.
In 2022, Jennie wrote and co-produced the radio documentary Meet Me In The Middle of the Air, the culmination of a project working as an artist at the bedside of Nia Simms in the last six months of her life, exploring their 15 year musical relationship, featuring the song Jennie wrote for Nia’s Voluntary Assisted Dying campaign, Let Me Go Gently.
In 2024, she had the honour to work as a Story Listener, interviewing seniors who live, work or play in the City of Brimbank as part of the Treasures project. In 2025 Jennie and Nela Trifkovic shared an Artist Residency at The Bowery Theatre with their project Be/Longing Between Mountains, inviting artists and communities to explore being, longing and belonging with song. The profound and heartfelt engagement with the ideas around the Be/Longing project continues in different venues with different participants and will hopefully bring people together long into the future!
